Analysis of Flow and Fluctuation Characteristics in Coated Slag Using a 2D Model in the Meniscus Region of Mold

Steel is mainly produced through continuous casting; molten steel flows into the mold from tundish, where it cools and then enters secondary cooling zone, ultimately solidifying a billet. During casting production process, quality of billet related to lubrication state coated slag. In upper part mold, consumption liquid protective slag directly affects friction initial solidified shell. Therefore, flow fluctuation characteristics in meniscus area are very important. There limited research on area, little consideration has been given shape meniscus. this work, two-dimensional numerical model for region was established, transient velocity at each moment vibration cycle obtained, as well slag/steel interface region. The results show that when surface vibrated upwards, flowed clockwise. When moved downwards, pool generated counterclockwise vortex. positive slip state, negative pressure formed by upward inertia force pushed toward inner wall mold. slip, interface, pushing liquid, overflowed channel.
